Pinkerton, Londonderry and the Mack Plaque
By Marc Thaler
As Friday's column for the New Hampshire Union Leader notes, the third-ranked Astros own a 10-game win streak in the regular-season series (12 consecutive wins counting 2006 and 2008 playoff victories).
Here's a Mack Plaque refresher for folks attending the 7 p.m. game:
-- Tonight's game marks the 27th official Mack Plaque/regular-season meeting between these teams. It's the 28th regular-season meeting overall (the teams first played in 1982; the '83 game kicked off the Mack Plaque series).
-- Pinkerton and Londonderry did not play a Mack Plaque game for a three-year period from 1986-88.
-- Pinkerton leads the Mack Plaque series 20-6 (the Astros are 21-6 counting their 7-6 overtime win in the '82 game).
-- Seven times both teams entered with unbeaten league records, most recently in 2008.
-- Londonderry's last Mack Plaque win was a 35-0 decision in 2001.
-- The margin of victory in Pinkerton's 10 consecutive Mack Plaque wins has been by a 25.7-point average.
